Google tests healthcare ads in AI Mode and AI Overviews
Google’s Ads Liaison Ginny Marvin confirmed in a LinkedIn thread that Google is running a small test of healthcare ads in AI Mode and AI Overviews. It covers US English queries only. Performance Max, AI Max with search terms matching, Shopping and broad match campaigns are eligible, and the first version leaves out ads that use pinning or text disclaimers. PPC Land reported it on 1 June.
Why it matters + what to do
Healthcare was one of the verticals kept out of AI answers until now. For clinics and pharmacies targeting India nothing changes yet, but it shows which campaign types Google lets into AI surfaces first.
Do this: If you manage US healthcare accounts, check whether your ads rely on pinned headlines or disclaimers, because those are not in the test. For Indian accounts, note the eligible campaign types and wait.
Microsoft launches Web IQ, Bing grounding APIs for AI agents
Microsoft announced Web IQ, a set of grounding APIs that give AI systems and agents current web pages, news, images and video from the Bing index. Microsoft says it runs under 165 ms at p95 and was nearly 2.5 times faster than the next-best competitor in its own tests. It also says passage-level results cut cost per call, but gives no pricing. Developers can register interest at aka.ms/WebIQ.
Why it matters + what to do
More AI agents will read the web through Bing’s index rather than visiting pages. If Bing does not index a page, those agents will not see it.
Do this: Check your key pages in Bing Webmaster Tools and set up IndexNow so new and updated pages reach the Bing index quickly.
ChatGPT Ads Manager adds daily budgets, CPC switch and max CPM bids
OpenAI told advertisers about new Ads Manager controls: switch a campaign from a lifetime to a daily budget, clone a CPM campaign as a CPC campaign in one click, set your own max CPM bid, and bulk edit campaigns, ad groups and ads inside the interface. Bulk edits by CSV were already available. OpenAI is also testing multi-advertiser placements that show several ads together in one slot, priced by a second-price auction. Daily budgets work as a seven-day average.
Why it matters + what to do
ChatGPT Ads now has the basic controls PPC people expect from Google and Microsoft. Because a daily budget is an average, spend on one day can go up to twice the amount you set.
Do this: Before testing ChatGPT Ads, set a daily budget you can live with at double the amount on any single day, and start with CPC so you only pay for clicks.

Google launches Search profiles for publishers and creators
Publishers and creators with a sizable following on at least one major social or video platform can now claim a Search profile. It shows their latest articles, videos and social posts, plus an avatar, bio and links. People reach it from a knowledge panel, by tapping the name in Discover, or by direct URL, and can follow the source from there. It launched in the US first, and Google says it plans to expand to more countries.
Why it matters + what to do
Claiming a profile can also create or update a knowledge panel, and followers may see more of your content in Discover. It gives creators a Google-hosted identity page they control.
Do this: Make your name, avatar, bio and social links the same on your site, YouTube and social accounts now, so a claim goes smoothly when the feature reaches your country.
Google publishes guidance on third-party SEO tools and advice
Google added a new Search Central page on using third-party SEO tools, services and advice, and rewrote its “Do you need an SEO?” page. It says third-party tools have no access to Google’s internal ranking data, cannot guarantee performance, and that their predictions are their own. It tells readers to check advice about AI search against Google’s guidance on generative AI features. The hiring page repeats that no one can guarantee a #1 ranking, and says to find someone else if they do.
Why it matters + what to do
Clients can now read in Google’s own words that a tool’s visibility score or forecast is not Google data. Agencies that sell on tool scores or ranking promises will get harder questions.
Do this: Review your proposals and reports. Label tool metrics as third-party estimates and use Search Console as the main source of numbers.

GA4 adds a Source group dimension
GA4 added a Source group field that merges the different source values a common platform sends into one value. Google names Facebook, Instagram and TikTok as examples. Source platform values were updated at the same time. The same release added hostname filters, which drop events from hostnames you choose.
Why it matters + what to do
Social traffic used to be split across several source values for the same platform, so totals were easy to undercount. One grouped value makes platform-level reporting simpler.
Do this: Rebuild your social traffic report on Source group and compare it with your old source-based totals for June to see what you were missing.
ChatGPT Ads Manager runs ads from product feeds
OpenAI emailed advertisers that retailers in the Ads Manager beta can upload a product feed and create ads from catalog items. Feeds come in by CSV or TXT upload, a hosted HTTPS URL, or SFTP. Ads show the image, title, star rating, price, sale price and brand. During the beta, feed products appear only in ads, not in organic ChatGPT answers, items expire after two weeks, and targeting is by country only.
Why it matters + what to do
This is shopping-style advertising inside ChatGPT. The two-week expiry means a one-time upload quietly stops serving.
Do this: If you test it, connect a hosted feed URL or SFTP instead of a manual upload, and reuse the product data you already keep clean for Merchant Center.
Google Ads cuts Search reach for unclear or disliked advertisers
Google updated its Limited ad serving policy. On Google Search, advertisers that users persistently report as falling short, or whose ads are generic or mention other brands without making the link clear, can be treated as unqualified and get fewer impressions on certain searches. Implementation is gradual and will be complete by 2028. Google suggests showing your own brand clearly and pinning your domain to the start of the headline.
Why it matters + what to do
Reseller, lead-gen and affiliate accounts that bid on other brands with generic ads are most at risk. The limit can hit all of that advertiser’s branded and generic ads on those searches.
Do this: Put the client’s brand name in ad copy and on the landing page, and if they sell other brands, say clearly how they are linked, for example authorised dealer.
Facebook gets an AI Mode search tab
Meta added AI Mode to Facebook, a search tab where Meta AI answers questions using what people say publicly across Meta’s apps, including Groups and Reels. Meta says it is powered by Meta AI and Muse Spark. It was rolling out from 15 June. Meta did not name regions.
Why it matters + what to do
Public posts and Reels can now become the answer someone gets on Facebook. Brands with no public presence there have nothing for Meta AI to use.
Do this: Ask a few questions about your client’s category in Facebook’s AI Mode where it is available, and note which public posts and groups it draws on.
Microsoft Ads adds job seniority to LinkedIn profile targeting
Microsoft Ads Liaison Navah Hopkins announced job seniority as a new option in LinkedIn profile targeting. It has 10 levels, from CXO, VP and Director down to Entry, Training and Volunteer. It works in Search and Audience ads campaigns at campaign and ad group level, with bid adjustments per level. It is live in selected markets in the Americas, EMEA and APAC.
Why it matters + what to do
B2B advertisers on Microsoft Ads can bid more for decision makers without running ads on LinkedIn itself. Seniority is self-declared on LinkedIn, so treat it as a signal, not a fact.
Do this: Add seniority levels to a B2B campaign with no bid change first, collect a month of data, then raise bids on the levels that convert.
Bing AI Performance report adds Intents, Topics and Citation Share
Bing Webmaster Tools added four preview features to its AI Performance report, rolling out worldwide from 16 June. Intents sorts the queries that cite you into types such as Informational, Commercial and Local. Topics groups related queries. Citation Share shows your share of all citations shown for a query, and Compare overlays an earlier date range.
Why it matters + what to do
This is first-party data on how often Microsoft’s AI answers cite you, by topic and intent. Microsoft says Citation Share is not a ranking or traffic share and does not show competitor domains.
Do this: Open the AI Performance report, compare the last 30 days with the 30 before, and list the topics where your Citation Share is lowest.
Google Ads will auto-assign customer types to conversion lists
Google Ads expert Bia Camargo shared an in-account notice saying Google will automatically assign customer types to conversion-based customer lists from August 2026. Eligible lists can no longer be left unclassified. Search Engine Land says the types cover existing customers, new customers and other segments. Google has not published a help page on the change.
Why it matters + what to do
New customer acquisition goals and retention bidding depend on these labels. A wrong automatic label can make Smart Bidding treat repeat buyers as new ones.
Do this: Open Audience Manager, find your conversion-based lists and set the customer type yourself before Google does it for you.

Shopify launches Campaign Autopilot in early access
Campaign Autopilot plans and runs marketing from the Shopify admin. You set a monthly budget target and rules, and can approve campaigns before launch. It runs Meta ads, Microsoft Advertising, Shop Campaigns (US and Canada, including Pinterest and ChatGPT placements) and email automations, with ChatGPT Ads and Snapchat coming soon. It is free on paid Shopify plans, you pay only for ad spend, and it uses your existing product images.
Why it matters + what to do
Store owners get a one-button route to paid ads that skips the agency. It creates separate campaigns and does not touch existing ones, so accounts can end up with two sets of campaigns bidding for the same buyers.
Do this: If a client turns it on, check their Meta and Microsoft accounts for new Autopilot campaigns and exclude overlaps with the campaigns you run.
Google Ad Manager gets Ask Ad Manager, a Gemini assistant
Google announced Ask Ad Manager, a chat agent built with Gemini for publishers using Google Ad Manager, in beta from June. It can diagnose delivery problems such as a line item not serving, build custom reports from a prompt, and link to the right settings. Google said REST APIs and an MCP server for trafficking would follow later in the year.
Why it matters + what to do
Publisher ad ops teams can troubleshoot delivery without building reports by hand. The answers come from AI, so they can still be wrong.
Do this: Once you have access, ask it about one known delivery problem and check its answer against the standard report before trusting it.
ChatGPT Ads Manager beta opens to UK businesses
OpenAI emailed advertisers that its self-serve Ads Manager beta was rolling out to UK businesses, with no upfront billing details needed to sign up. ChatGPT ads had gone live in the UK on 6 June. Agencies are advised not to create accounts for clients. The client creates the account and invites the agency under Settings, Users, Invites.
Why it matters + what to do
ChatGPT Ads is spreading country by country. OpenAI’s Ads Manager availability page now lists India among the countries with self-serve access.
Do this: Ask each client to create their own ChatGPT Ads account and invite you, so they keep ownership if you part ways.
Amazon launches Alexa+ Agentic Ads on Echo Show
Amazon Ads launched Alexa+ Agentic Ads, a format where a customer can ask questions about an ad and complete the purchase by talking to Alexa, without leaving the ad. It is live on Echo Show devices. Launch partners are Papa Johns for food orders and Ticketmaster concert tickets for Beck, Jill Scott and Omar Courtz.
Why it matters + what to do
The ad and the checkout become one conversation. The brand never gets a website visit, only the order.
Do this: If you sell on Amazon, keep product details, prices and stock exact, since an assistant can now complete the sale from them.
YouTube adds Gemini insight tools for brands at Cannes
At Cannes Lions, YouTube announced insight tools built with Gemini. Insights Finder in Google Ads gets more detailed US trend data and selected brand pulse metrics on paid and organic presence. A new Content and Creator Insights API gives partners data on creators and audiences. Gemini creative tips for Demand Gen campaigns, such as which visuals may help, are coming soon.
Why it matters + what to do
Creator and trend planning moves into Google Ads. Most of the new data is US-only for now.
Do this: Open Insights Finder in Google Ads and check what it shows for India before you plan your next YouTube creator campaign.
June 2026 spam update
Google released the June 2026 spam update at 9:03 a.m. Pacific on 24 June (9:33 p.m. in India). It applies worldwide and to all languages. Google said it may take a few days, and confirmed it was complete on 26 June.
Why it matters + what to do
Spam updates hit sites that break Google’s spam policies. A drop between 24 and 26 June points to a policy problem before anything else.
Do this: Add a 24 June annotation in Search Console and compare clicks for the week before 24 June with the week after 26 June.
AI Mode puts recipe site links at the top of answers
Robby Stein, VP of Product for Google Search, said that for relevant recipe queries AI Mode now shows prominent links to recipe sites at the top of the response. Each link has an image and details such as the creator’s name, ratings and number of ingredients. It follows months of complaints from recipe publishers about AI-written recipes. Stein did not say which countries get it.
Why it matters + what to do
Recipe sites get a visible link above the AI text instead of below it. Publishers say AI-written recipes are still shown, so traffic may not recover fully.
Do this: Check that your Recipe structured data includes image, author, rating and ingredients. Google has not said it is required, but those are the details the new links show.
No change matches these filters.
Background: what June adds up to
1. Ads move inside AI answers
In June Google confirmed healthcare ads in AI Mode and AI Overviews in the US, OpenAI shipped three rounds of ChatGPT Ads changes in 17 days, Amazon let Echo Show users buy from an ad by talking to Alexa, and Shopify said ChatGPT Ads is coming to Campaign Autopilot. In each case the ad sits inside the answer, not beside a list of links.
The buying controls are arriving fast: daily budgets, CPC, max bids, product feeds. Reporting is behind. Google Ads does not split AI Mode out from Search, and ChatGPT spend data lags 7 to 8 hours. Keep these tests in separate campaigns with their own budget, and judge them on sales in your own backend, not on platform numbers alone.

2. Measure AI visibility with first-party data
Bing now shows Citation Share, intents and topics for the AI answers that cite you. Days earlier, Google published a page saying third-party tools have no access to its ranking data and that advice about AI search should be checked against its own guidance. Microsoft also opened Web IQ to feed Bing’s index to AI agents, and Meta turned Facebook search into AI answers built from public posts.
The AI visibility numbers you can defend in front of a client come from the platforms: Bing’s AI Performance report and Search Console. Use SEO and AI visibility tools for ideas and spot checks, not for targets in a contract. When a tool sells an AI visibility score, ask where its data comes from, because Google has now said in writing that tool predictions are the tool’s own.

3. Google wants to know who is behind the page and the ad
Search profiles give publishers and creators a claimed page tied to their knowledge panel. Recipe links in AI Mode now show the creator’s name. On the ads side, the Limited ad serving update cuts Search impressions for advertisers with generic ads, unclear links to other brands or persistent user complaints. The June spam update, finished in two days, went after sites that break the spam policies.
For Indian agencies this means two jobs. Make each client’s identity match everywhere: the same name, logo and social links on the website, Business Profile, YouTube and ad copy. And stop running generic reseller-style ads that borrow another brand’s name without saying how the client is linked to it, since Google says it may limit all of that advertiser’s ads on those searches.
